Land Use & Housing Committee Reports

Special Meeting of February 13, 2006. The Special Meeting of the CSFN Land Use & Housing Committee was convened on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 6:10 p.m. in the Community Room of the Northern Police Station.

      The Committee received information on the Bridge Housing project on Geary. It also reviewed the recent public hearings that were held by BOS. Reviewed the most recent revised draft of the proposed Better Neighborhoods Planning legislation and the progress made to date. The Committee discussed preparations for the proposed Planning Dept Work Program and Budget.

      The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

      Regular Meeting of February 20, 2006. The Regular Meeting of the CSFN Land Use & Housing Committee was convened on February 20, 2006 at 6:05 p.m. in the Community Room of the Northern Police Station.

      The Committee received reports and discussed proposed project at 3575 Geary Boulevard, the next (2007) updating of the Housing Element of the Master Plan, position of merchants on Geary Boulevard regarding the proposed rapid transit, proposed helicopter operation at San Francisco General Hospital, and the proposed Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation ordinance.

      The Committee voted to recommend the CSFN General Assembly adopt a resolution urging the Planning Commission to schedule public hearings on the amendments of the whole that have been introduced and adopted by the Board of Supervisors regarding the proposed ordinance, Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Process and the Planning Commission communicate to the Board of Supervisors urging they take no action regarding the Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Process ordinance pending the receipt of the recommendation by the Planning Commission regarding the propose ordinance.

      The meeting was adjourned at 7:51 p.m.

      Special Meeting of February 27, 2006.The Special Meeting of the CSFN Land Use & Housing Committee was convened on February 27, 2006 at 6:19 p.m. in the Community Room of the Northern Police Station.

      The Committee considered the following issues: the proposed mixed use project at 3575 Geary Boulevard (site of the Coronet Theater), the proposed ordinance, Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Process, and the forthcoming meeting with City Attorney Dennis Herrera.

      The Committee voted to recommend to the CSFN General Assembly that it adopt a proposed resolution to appeal the Board of Supervisors to overrule the determination by the Planning Department declaring that the proposed Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Process ordinance is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act.

      The Committee voted to recommend to the CSFN General Assembly to protest the proposed project at 3575 Geary Boulevard.

      The Committee voted to request an appointment with City Attorney Dennis Herrera to protest the flawed legislative process being condoned in the legislative review of the proposed ordinance, Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Process.

      The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 p.m.

      Special Meeting of March 13, 2006.The Special Meeting of the CSFN Land Use & Housing Committee was convened on March 13, 2006 at 6:01 p.m. in the Community Room of the Northern Police Station.

      The Committee considered the following matters: progress report on the proposed ordinance, Better Neighborhoods Planning and Implementation Process, the meeting with City Attorney Dennis Herrera, and preparations for the forthcoming meeting with Mayor Gavin Newsom.

      The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

     The committee heard progress reports on and/or considered the following matters: proposed Better Neighborhoods Planning & Implementation legislation and meetings with the members and/or staffs of the Board of Supervisors.

     The committee agreed to convene a special meeting on February 13, 2006. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
