MEETING CALLED TO ORDER by Pres. Judy Berkowitz at 7:06 pm at Northern Police Station, Tuesday, 21 February 2006
QUORUM ascertained: 22 organizations and 7 guests attending.
INTRODUCTION of Delegates and Guests.
PRESENTATION by HOST ORGANIZATIONS: BUENA VISTA NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOC. (BVNA) and SUNSET PARKSIDE EDUCATION & ACTION COMMITTEE (SPEAK): Inge Horton of Sunset Architectural and Historical Resources Inventory Committee reported on the Sunset’s architectural resources (16 notable bldgs) and the tedious process necessary for protecting and landmarking. She provided handout: ARCHITECTURAL AND HISTORICAL RESOURCES OF THE SUNSET DISTRICT 2004-2005.
OFFICERS’ REPORTS:
PRESIDENT’s MESSAGE: Judy Berkowitz, see page 2, Feb.’06 Newsletter. Announced meeting with Mayor Newsom March 15 (also announced in newsletter). Civil Grand Jury apps available deadline April 15.
1st VICE PREZ, Steve Gruel, page 4, Feb. ‘06 Newsletter. A revised 21 February Meeting Agenda was distributed.. New Member application (rejoining) of Haight Ashbury Improvement Assoc., Cheryl Brodie, pres was approved at the January ‘06 Exec-Committee meeting. General Membership acceptance was Moved/2nd/ PASSED by unanimous verbal vote.
2nd VICE PREZ, Richard Shadoian: p 4, Feb. 06 Newsletter: 2 letters sent to Board of Supervisors: one regards CSFN’s position on Garbage Impound Accounts and another, position supporting change of leadership, new chair, to TRANSPORTATION BOARD.
RECORDING SECY, Dick Millet: 17 January ‘06 Minutes in Feb. ‘06 Newsletter, page 5 approved with the amendment that Sunset Scavenger made a presentation at the meeting, omitted from the minutes.
TREASURER, B. Meskunas: No Report.
CORRESPONDING SECRETARY, Lionel Brazil: to make clear well in advance Hosting of refreshments for the CSFN general meeting, a 3 month advance listing of the hosting organizations will be posted in each Newsletter.
ACTION ITEMS:
Rec and Park RESOLUTION as published on page 6 Feb. 06 Newsletter: “Be it resolved, the CSFN hereby request that the Recreation and Parks Commission hold a special meeting, apart from their regular monthly meeting, in order to hear, as soon as possible, public comment on the Department audit, so that the suggestions made for improvement which were brought to light in the audit may not be filed away and forgotten.” APPROVED by verbal acclimation.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE, by Evelyn Wilson: By-laws, Article 6, Section C, specify that Nominating Committee be elected at the February meeting: candidates elected were, John Barry, Marie Harris and Mary McAfee by verbal vote.
LAND USE & HOUSING COMMITTEE: page 4 Feb 06 Newsletter, John Bardis, chair, brought forward a Committee resolution: “Be it resolved, that the CSFN respectfully urges the Planning Commission to: 1) schedule a public hearing on the several amendments of the whole introduced by the Board of Supervisors regarding the proposed “Better Neighborhoods Planning & Implementation Process” ordinance, and 2) communicate immediately to the Board of Supervisors of the Commission’s intention to do so and request the Board to take NO action on the proposed ordinance pending the receipt of the Commission’s recommendation.”
OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE, Ramona Albright, chair: page 3 Feb 06 newsletter, The Golden Gate Park Concourse was made a land-mark. A Commemorative Certificate was given to the CSFN by Kathy Howard for helping “Save the Trees.”
PROGRAM. Controller Ed Harrington spoke and answered questions about the budget, the budget process and various audits.
